    SOLOMON SELF

    MOVING FORWARD.

  • KNOW YOUR SELF.

My name is Solomon Self and I am running for AUSG Vice President. I was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. As an International Studies and Film of & Media Arts double major I hope to use my skills to bridge the gap between politics and pop culture through the power of media.

Although I love my home state, I chose to attend AU because I wanted to experience life outside of my California bubble and get involved in the causes that I care about. Although I miss the beaches and beautiful weather, I know I made the right decision coming to D.C.

I decided to run for Vice President position because I want to be a voice for people. Specifically, for the AU students on who feel like their voices are being ignored by their student government. It is my goal to change the perception that our student government only cares about playing House of Cards. I will move our campus forward.

I hope I to have your vote on March 28-31!

  • PLATFORM

Since my freshman year, I have been a part of both the SIS Undergraduate Council, where I now serve as treasurer, and Nourish AU, for which I am now Outreach Coordinator. From SISUGC, I learned how student government works on a micro-level, and I gained experience in planning, overseeing, and executing programming that matters. I joined Nourish AU in it's inaugural year, and I've helped it grow tremendously in a short amount of time. In both organizations, I have made the commitment to diversity and collaboration a top priority. Keep scrolling to see my plans for AU in the upcoming year. Together, we can keep moving forward.

    FURTHERING THE CONVERSATION.

As a university that prides itself on its diversity, we must continue to bring speakers and guests that represent our community. We will push boundaries, challenge norms, and bring awareness to various issues faced by those of diverse backgrounds both on campus and off.

    FIGHTING STIGMAS.

We will work with the Office of Advocacy Services for Interpersonal and Sexual Violence (OASIS) to expand and improve programming so that more students are reached. My goal is to create safe and comfortable spaces where we can have these difficult conversations and work to remove the stigma surrounding sexual assault.

    SUPPORT.

We are dedicated to creating a safe and supportive environment to those living with mental health illness. In pursuit of erasing the social stigmas associated with mental illness, not only do we want to raise awareness, but we want to create a secure and non-judgemental space by working with the AU Counseling Center in making it more accessible to students.
